Modern Kitchen Design

Oxfordshire

Modern kitchen design by Langstaff-Ellis. Such a generous space deserves stunning cabinetry, something out of the ordinary, and we believe we have created just that. This beautiful design is simple and clean with warmth coming from the grain-matched rift Oak cabinetry. The 8m long island is wrapped with Italian Carrara marble which also frames the drawers.

The appliance package is as impressive as the cabinetry with top brands like Gagganau and Fisher & Paykel installed.

A Shaker Kitchen

Bourne End, Bukcinghamshire

The design brief was to build a Shaker kitchen with contemporary English design details. We hung elegant painted door frames on traditional hinges and used solid Walnut to line the drawers which provided a warm and tactile contrast. We incorporated twin ceramic Butler’s sinks set in white Silestone quartz counter tops. We designed the room in simple hues of soft greys and pale blues, with the large central island accentuated in deep sapphire blue, like a jewel in the crown.

The island itself was designed for easy living, yet rich in detail. We included dovetailed, solid walnut pan and utensil drawers, an integrated dishwasher and a discrete microwave oven. On the dining side we added social sitting for entertaining family and friends by overlapping the contrasting white quartz counter tops for added leg room.

The lighting played a big part in this kitchen. The glass cabinets, either side of the mantel, featured a luxuriously dark walnut veneer and with internal subtle lighting the glasses were lit with great affect.

The large American style fridge was pivotal to the design of its surrounding cabinets. Storage was created in the upper cabinets for items less often required in the kitchen, while two large pantry cupboards were added either side.

We really enjoyed creating this kitchen. It is simple, elegant and rich in detail.

Contemporary Bookcase

The Little Boltons

Langstaff-Ellis was selected by an architect based in South Kensington, to supply a stunning handmade contemporary bookcase as well as an Architect’s drawing board to superior specifications. The bookcase was tailor-made in solid maple and painted in a satin finish with faux books added on subtle sliding doors to hide the audio visual equipment inside.

Integral lighting was included in the design to cast just the right amount of light onto each shelf. During the installation, on this particular commission, we worked alongside the clients main contractor, electrician, audio technician and decorators.

Induvidual Comissions

Individual commissions are every bit as enjoyable and rewarding as our larger projects. We can create your essential kitchen larder, the dressing room you’ve dreamed of and the audio visual cabinets designed with pure function in mind, hiding a multitude of high technology. One of the most inventive commissions we’ve designed was to create a bookcase hiding a secret door in a library. We love the individual challenge as the design is very much at the fore.

Recently a clients brief was to create a unique kitchen island cabinet in keeping with the existing kitchen. Langstaff-Ellis sourced a stunning end grain, round chopping block to be used at one end of the island and contrasted it with a slate worktop at the other end. In this particular piece the curved joinery is a fine example of the company’s ability to produce high quality craftsmanship in the detail.

Wardrobes and dressing rooms are always being designed and made here at Langstaff-Ellis. Small single door wardrobes to large walk-in dressing rooms are designed using 3D software to visualise the design before any machining is started. We incorporate rails, shelves, pull-out storage systems and drawers into our bedroom furniture, either free standing or fitted.

Period House Comission

Beaconsfield

This period English manor house was painstakingly reconstructed and created from the ground up incorporating our highly skilled carpentry throughout. It now presents some of our best work to date.

Our commission included the centrepiece staircase with its continuous handrail, tailored hall doors sitting in panelled pockets and a pair of very chic bookcases in the drawing room painted in Farrow & Ball Black Blue.

Langstaff-Ellis also designed the space in the utility room with bags of storage for wellies, washing and flower arranging! The highlight is the traditional plain shaker kitchen and dresser with industrial stainless steel counter tops, vintage light pendants and contrasting distressed oak Island giving it that New York urban feel.
